We landed in St Cristobel this morning after a very very rocky passage. I didn’t sleep until we anchored in the early hours of the morning. After breakfast we took a bus ride to the national park where they are tyring to save the gigantic land tortoises. These were the most amazing animals you have ever seen – huge! and you certainly can tell where the features for ET came from.
Then we had free time and we hit the internet café to catch up on all the news – very disappointing! Did a bit of shopping before we said goodbye to our fellow travellers, and then boarded the dinghy to take us out to Coral 1.

Surprise surprise! This was definite luxury! We are currently sitting in a spacious bar and lounge waiting for the arrival of our fellow passengers. On the wall there is a small plaque:
“Marriages performed by the Captain are valid only for the duration of the voyage”.
There is also a separate restaurant where everyone can get up and down as they like ie separate seats not long lounges like the other boat. The capacity is for about 35 passengers but they are expecting about 25. Bugger the animals – I am spending my time on the boat!
The rest of the day turned out to be a bit flat. We ended up waiting for 2 hours until the rest of the passengers turned up. We were shown our cabin which was upstairs and has the smallest bathroom I have ever seen! I hope it turns calm because the amount of motion really increases up here.
We went back to the Port and were driven to the Interpretation Centre which had a display of the natural and human history of the islands. But we then had to wait for an hour and a bit to 6.30 before we were picked up.
It’s a very mixed group this time (first cruise were all Americans) 6 French, who insisted on eating together and arranged the whole dining room to accommodate themselves, Brits, Germans, another Australian couple, Canadians and a couple of Asian women.
It’s a new island tomorrow for a walk/hike and then beach time in the afternoon.
