Today was a bit of a nothing day. In the morning we disembarked and went to see the Charles Darwin Research Institute. We saw heaps more of the gigantic tortoises including “Lonesome George” – the only one of his species left.

We then headed into Santa Cruz which is a really nice little town much nicer than San Christobel – we finally bought a bottle opener! In the afternoon we sailed to South Plaza Island. I didn’t go ashore but the landscape was really different again with red sand.

Maria (nice British girl travelling on her own who keeps getting chatted up) came to join us after dinner and we downed a couple of reds. Problem was that that night was the roughest we have had yet! Literally holding onto the side of the bed to keep yourself from being thrown – we did hear a couple of thumps during the night!
